January 29 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Dear Bethel congregation, a big hug and thank you for the many Christmas greetings, blessings, as well as the birthday cards and gifts we received during our lengthy stay in Victoria, BC with all our family and friends. We had a great time visiting and sharing our life with our Mexican friends. It’s great to be home again with you. The Lord keep You in His loving care, John & Shirley Bos

We would like to thank the congregation for your love and support shown to us with the passing of Cor Nienhuis. Your prayers, cards, hugs and support have comforted and blessed our family. Thanks so much. Pearl Nienhuis, Cindy & Paul Prins, Brian & Pauline Nienhuis, Sandra & Bob Blattler and families.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

February Newsletter

Heart month, Valentine’s Day, Family Day. We are looking to put together the next newsletter on Friday, February 3rd. We are always eager to have contributions from the congregation. This could include a cover page photo, a written contribution, such as a poem, essay, book study even memories. As always, we want to make the newsletter something interesting, fun, and something that covers all ages. We want to pray and encourage one another, but to do that, we need to communicate. This is the place. We look forward to hearing from you. When you do send us something and it gets lost in the shuffle, please accept our apologies. Give us a reminder and we will make it right. Please have your contributions to Meaghan Noort, Harriet Luymes or Anita Geldof by Tuesday, January 31st. We do need a few days to get things in order for printing.

Church Renewal Lab Scripture Reading Guide Quarter 2: Ephesians and Colossians.

Our Renewal readings help us listen to God speak to us through his Word. The readings are shorter enabling us to take a little more time to reflect on the daily question.

Week 3: Life in Christ Revealed – January 30th to February 3rd

Day 1: Colossians 1:1-14 Q: Colossians 1:6 declares the power of the gospel.

How can we harness that power?

Day 2: Colossians 1:15-23 Q: How does Christ as head of the church shape our prayers?

Day 3: Colossians 1:24-2:5 Q: How can we develop the joy of serving the church?

Day 4: Colossians 2:6-15 Q: How can we live our lives in Christ Jesus?

Day 5: Colossians 2:16-23 Q: Are there places where we have been too legalistic?

It’s time to update the family picture boards in the Fellowship Hall. Pauline Bos is willing to take your picture today or February 12th after the service. If you have a recent photo that you would like to submit, please make sure it is 4”x6” and place it in Marcella Van Stryland’s church mailbox. Thank you! J

Seven months ago a 17 year old Christian girl was abducted by militant Muslim neighbours, who brutally abused her. Recently she was able to escape. She is left pregnant and terrified. It's not safe to stay at home with her family therefore she is in a VOM-operated safehouse where she receives care and counseling. Please pray for this girl and her family, that the Lord will comfort and heal her. Pray that justice and restoration will take place. Pray for Christians in Pakistan - many are suffering abuse and discrimination and considered 'second class' citizens. Pray that government will speak out against religious intolerance.
