February 5 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Church Renewal Lab Scripture Reading Guide Quarter 2: Ephesians and Colossians.

Our Renewal readings help us listen to God speak to us through his Word. The readings are shorter enabling us to take a little more time to reflect on the daily question.

Week 4: Further teaching on our life in Christ February 6th to 10th

Day 1: Colossians 3:1-11 Q: Are there things in the life of the church that need repenting?

Day 2: Colossians 3:12-17 Q: Is there forgiveness and grace that needs to be offered to people

in our church?

Day 3: Colossians 3:18-4:1 Q: How can we center ourselves to serve the Lord alone.

Day 4: Colossians 4:2-6 Q: How does prayer shape our interactions with those around us?

Day 5: Colossians 4:7-18 Q: How can we complete the ministry Jesus sets in front of us?

Final questions:

What did I learn about abiding in Christ from Ephesians and Colossians? What Holy Spirit inspired thoughts came to me through the reading that I should share with the renewal team.

It’s time to update the family picture boards in the Fellowship Hall. Pauline Bos is willing to take your picture today or February 12th after the service. If you have a recent photo that you would like to submit, please make sure it is 4”x6” and place it in Marcella Van Stryland’s church mailbox. Thank you! J

Would you like to make a real difference in the life of a child at the same time? EduDeo Ministries’ HANDS teams provide an opportunity to both learn and serve. Bernie Kolkman from Lacombe, Alberta is an experienced team leader and familiar with the Dominican Republic, he is hoping to lead a team to the D.R. from March 3 – 12, 2017. There is still room for you to experience this exciting opportunity to see first-hand the difference that Christ-centred education makes in developing countries. By assisting with a school construction project, you’ll be able to learn from and serve with indigenous workers, teachers and students in the Dominican Republic. In early October Rev. Andrew Brunson and his wife Norine were arrested in Izmir where they have been residents for 23 years. The pastoring couple were held as a threat to national security, although it is believed that the real reason for the arrest is related to their Christian relief work with refugees from Syria (including Kurds). They were denied access to either lawyers or consular assistance for over four weeks. Following some publicity in the Turkish national press, and action on the part of the United States Embassy, Norine was released. However, to date, Rev. Brunson, after several legal problems, remains in detention. Please uphold Rev. Andrew Brunson in prayer, asking that the slanderous accusations and falsified documents against him will hold no credence in court, and that all charges against him will be quickly dismissed. May God's presence and peace surround the faithful Christian leader, his wife Norine, their children, and fellow believers in Turkey.
