February 12 Bulletin

If you would like to pray with an Elder or Deacon of this church we are available at the front of the sanctuary following this morning’s worship service.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to Lorraine Havinga and Ella Land as they celebrate birthdays this week. Lorraine’s birthday is on Thursday and Ella’s is on Friday. To you both, we pray for a wonderful day with family, friends and our Lord’s richest of blessings.

We welcome Wilma Van Reede as she joins our fellowship. Please add her address and phone number to your church directory. #207 5002 51 Avenue, Lacombe, T4L 1B8. (Spruce Terrace) 403-789-4745. Email: wilma@shaw.ca

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

It’s time to update the family picture boards in the Fellowship Hall. Pauline Bos is willing to take your picture today after the service. If you have a recent photo that you would like to submit, please make sure it is 4”x6” and place it in Marcella Van Stryland’s church mailbox. Thank you! J

Guess Who Is Coming For Coffee

Let us put into action the sermon we heard on January 22nd and fellowship with some of our members. The Fellowship Ministry Leadership Team will help you by arranging a coffee date for you and 2 other couples on February 19th. There will be a signup sheet on the table in the back for you to put your name down as a host or a visitor. You have until TODAY to sign up.

Lost & Found

The lost and found box at the bottom of the main stairs is very full! Clothes dishes, pillows, rubber & hiking boots are just a few of the lovely things to be found there. Please check it out, as everything that is left will go to the Building Blocks Thrift store at the end of February.

These are the highlights for our Council Executive meeting held February 8th:

1. Executive has decided to proceed to forming a pastoral search committee. We will prayerfully move ahead with this process and we covet the congregation's prayers in this matter.

2. Executive supported the financial statements as prepared by our church treasurer, August Luymes, for 2016.

3. We discussed the proposal by the Fellowship Ministry Leadership Team regarding family greeters and we support this project. We prayerfully ask all members to intentionally greet one another and be part of this new initiative.

4. Executive accepted the transfer of membership of Wilma Van Reede from West End CRC. (Henry Geldof's mom)

5. We want to encourage anyone who needs prayer to continue to come forward after the service at the front of the church.

6. Our congregational meeting will be held on Thursday, March 16th. We ask that all ministry leadership teams present a report on their team that night.

7. We are beginning the process of nominating office bearers for the upcoming year and covet your prayers in this process.

Welcome Home Hospitality Initiative:

Bethel Council and the Fellowship Ministry Leadership Team wish to introduce a hospitality initiative designed to welcome, draw in and enfold visitors and new members. In a nutshell: each Bethel household is being asked to take part by inviting a newcomer home for coffee and/or lunch after the service when the opportunity arises. In order to be prepared to extend hospitality, your name(s) will appear in the bulletin “duties” section the week prior to and the week of your service beside “Welcome Home”. You will be contacted by your elder in the near future for further clarification, but feel free to contact them first if you have any questions.

Coffee Break

Because of the school closure and no coffee break last week we will be studying the last lesson of Isaiah this week. We will begin the morning with a potluck breakfast starting at 9:20 a.m. See you all this Wednesday. Next week we start a new lesson book on the Parables of Jesus. This would be a good time to join us if you were wondering what Coffee Break is all about.
