UPCOMING SERVICES

Next Sunday, April 30th

Pastor Mike will lead his final official worship service at Bethel. We will be reading from Philippians 4:1-9.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

We offer our condolences to the family of Mrs. Grace Vander Veen: her daughter, Hilda Van Stryland and her family along with her daughter, Emma Reitsma and her family. Grace died on April 16th, Easter Sunday morning at the remarkable age of 108 years. The funeral was this past Friday. May God comfort the family in this time of sadness with the wonder of his grace.

I’m starting the next chapter of my life in Calgary. This is my “Good Bye” to Pastor Mike & Barb, leaders & all the ladies of Coffee Break, Seniors’ Club, all the workers and all who enjoy the supper and fellowship of Circle of Friends, and the members of the church for all their kindness to me. Thank you. God bless you and keep you in His care. Joan Scott

Joan Scott’s new address: 439 - 20 Country Village Cove NE, Calgary, AB, T3K 5T9. Phone: 587-535-6448.

Pastor Mike and Barb’s moving plans:

A member of the Welland church will come this week Thursday or Friday with a truck and take our belongings to Welland. Barb and I will drive to Medicine Hat on Monday, May 1st so that Barb can join a bridal shower for our future daughter-in-law, Amanda Stigter. (She will take the shower gift from Bethel with her). On Tuesday we will cross the border and make our way to Grand Rapids. We will stay there for the weekend with Steven & Rosanne and Paul. On Monday, May 8th we will cross into Ontario and make our way to Welland. We have a few weeks to settle in and then on May 26th I will be installed as the pastor of Grace CRC. My first service there will be Sunday, May 28th – Ascension day. Our contact information in Welland is: 37 Westdale Drive, Welland Ontario, L3C 2C3.

Email: pastor6@shaw.ca should still work as part of the Bethel church account.

I am closing my personal shaw account so mvandyk9@shaw.ca will no longer work.

My new personal email will be mvandyk5@gmail.com.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Week 1: Jesus’ Ministry Begins

Day 1 - John 1:1-19 Q: What was John’s mission in verse 7? Is this our mission as well?

Day 2 - John 1:20-34 Q: When we see Jesus in our life, do we testify about what we have seen?

Day 3 - John 1:35-50 Q: Do we follow Jesus with the same eagerness as the disciples?

Day 4 - John 2:1-12 Q: Jesus used this miracle to reveal his glory. What do we do to give God glory?

Day 5 - John 2:13-25 Q: Are there things we do that do not belong in the house of God?

Gossip, Judgement, etc.?

Summer Ministry Coordinator Fund6ing:

In relation to this, we have a position open for a Summer Music/Worship Coordinator. The vision is to maintain excellence in ministry and worship during the summer months and engage in outreach through a one week Vacation Bible School. A fuller “position description” is available upon request by calling the church at 403-782-6400 or emailing to bchurch2@shaw.ca

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Sudan - Christians were protesting peacefully against the sell-off of an Evangelical School. Members of an illegal committee had been illegally selling off church properties to businessmen for "redevelopment." A three-day protest at the school ended on April 3rd when police arrested all the male protesters. Soon afterwards, an armed group of about 20 people arrived and began beating the women. Several men from a nearby church, rushed to the aid of the assaulted women. Two of these men were stabbed while police stood by and watched. Younan Abdullah soon succumbed to his injuries, the other wounded rescuer was hospitalized for treatment. Pray for comfort for Younan's widow and their two young children; for recovery of the injured man and for others in the traumatized church community. May the individual(s) responsible for the stabbing come to repentance and salvation.
