June 4 Bulletin

Bethel Newsletter:

The June edition of the Bethel Newsletter is in your mailbox today. Please check it out for news and announcements.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world. Please remember

Bethel News

A note from the church secretaries:

We are usually working in the church office on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you find the front doors locked on those days please ring the doorbell to the left of the doors. We can hear this bell in our office and will come to the door to let you in. Thank you!

Greeters & Coffee Servers:

Many members of our congregation are part of the hospitality ministry of our church by serving as greeters and coffee servers on Sunday mornings. If you are not part of this ministry, please consider adding your name to schedule. We would like to have enough people on the schedule so that each couple or family would be greeters and/or coffee servers once every 3 months. Please contact the secretaries at 403-782-6400 (leave a message if we are not in) or email at bchurch2@shaw.ca by June 11th if you can help out. Thanks so much!

Are you going on holidays this summer and interested in having responsible house sitters?

Mark and Selina Patterson are able to help you out! They will be here from July 1st through August 19th. Please contact Cora Stol at 403-885-5712 for more info.

Pastoral Search Committee:

Last week at the potluck lunch, the search Committee provided an update and questionnaire asking for your input on the qualities you are looking for in a new pastor. We hope you took the time to fill it out and today we hope you will hand in your preferences. Please return your form to Jennifer Zuidhof or email her at jenzuid@hotmail.com. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Prayer Ministry

A few people from our church have been getting together to form a Prayer Ministry for our congregation as we go through this time of transition and renewal. Prayer is a vital link between earth and heaven. Praying for and with others on a regular basis is an indispensable ministry. Please read more about this in the June Newsletter this week.

Vacation Bible School

Not sure if you'd like to help with VBS? Want to find out more? Ready to sign up for the week, or part of it? If any of these categories fit you, please come to the VBS training night on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:30 p.m. here at Bethel.

Coffee Break News:

Ladies, we have been busy making plans for the coming season, using the suggestions we've received from some of you, and we have chosen the studies we will do. We are very excited about it all. We also need volunteers to take care of the nursery. Helena Kits and Dorothy Meindersma who have done it so faithfully for so many years, have stepped down, and we need new ladies to take care of our little ones. Please consider prayerfully if this is something you like to do, so the young moms will be given the opportunity to go to Bible study. If you want to know more about Coffee Break, or serve others by helping out in the nursery, please read our little news item in the June Newsletter this week.

The Book Club meeting

Performance dates are June 7th & 8th at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10.00 each through the CACHS office. Call Ann at (403) 782-4535 to reserve your seats.

Central Alberta Christian High School

would like to invite you to a farewell assembly and tea for Mel and Sandra Brandsma which will take place on Monday, June 12th. The assembly will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by tea and goodies which will go until 1:00 p.m.

One of the worst countries in the world for Christians happens to also be the country where the church is growing the fastest. Despite the Iranian regime's crackdown on Christianity, a large underground church movement has been growing. More Iranians have become Christians in the past 20 years than in the previous 13 centuries put together since Islam came to Iran. Thank God for these brothers and sisters in the Lord, who still fear the consequences of their conversion. May He keep them safe and filled with joy of knowing their Savior.
