June 11 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Greeters & Coffee Servers:

Many members of our congregation are part of the hospitality ministry of our church by serving as greeters and coffee servers on Sunday mornings. If you are not part of this ministry, please consider adding your name to schedule. We would like to have enough people on the schedule so that each couple or family would be greeters and/or coffee servers once every 3 months. Please contact the secretaries at 403-782-6400 (leave a message if we are not in) or email at bchurch2@shaw.ca by TODAY if you can help out. Thanks so much!

Safe Church, Criminal Record Check Request:

It’s that time again! Time to update the Police Check Files and handout cover letters to those who are in need of getting theirs done. Your cover letter will state that you do Children/Youth ministry here; if you don’t, and do other ministries please don’t worry. I simply stated this as to make sure that all ministries are covered in the cost that Lacombe Police Department would charge for the service. Any one 16 years and older will need to have the checks done. (Some letters were given to students who will turn 16 in the fall, please hold onto the letter until after your birthday.) Please note if you do not live in the city of Lacombe you are required to visit a RCMP detachment in your area. If you are called back to get finger prints, please have them done, the church will reimburse you for all costs. Anyone I may have missed or anyone who is thinking of future ministry work, request a cover letter. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Dana van Gyssel at 403-704-9032 in the evenings or at the Church on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. till 3:30 p.m.

Pastor Search Committee:

Thank you everyone for handing in your Pastor Questionnaires. We enjoyed reading them (especially the children’s.) Jen has compiled them into simple and clear graphs. We spent some time discussing them. The Church Profile will be going to council for approval and then it will be posted to the CRCNA website. Now we are working on our advertisement for the Pastor Search website.

On May 25th, armed gunmen opened fire, killing at least 28 Christians and wounding more than 20 others. The victimized believers were travelling on buses to attend services at the Monastery of St. Samuel in Minya, southern Egypt. The militants ordered all the Christians to convert to Islam. When the victims refused, stating, "We are Christians," the attackers opened fire. A number of children were confirmed among the dead. "This is a very sad time for Egyptian Christians and for our nation," explains one of VOM's in-country ministry partners. Please pray for God's comfort for the families of those who died and are injured.
