September 3 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to Eleanor Wildeboer and Teena Stol as they celebrate their birthdays on Monday and Saturday. To both of you, we wish you the Lord’s richest blessings and a day filled with love and laughter.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Pastor Search Committee:

We are busy reading Pastor profiles, researching, listening to sermons, and discussing our opinions. It is a challenging task, but also an exciting one. We have narrowed our search again and are going to listen to some more sermons in the next two weeks. We pray for the Spirit’s guidance throughout this process. If any of you have a suggestion for a pastor you would like us to consider, please fill out a form on the back table or you may speak to a committee member. Also if anyone would like to view our church profile, there is a link on our website. If you would like a hard copy, we have a few available, also on the back table. Once again members are: Cora Hoekstra, Marvin Ebens, Margaret Roolker, Terry Vandenborn, Mel Wildeboer, Andrew Tenbrinke, Jen Zuidhof, Betty Scholing and Debby van Iperen.

Book Club Will Start Again:

Ladies, just a reminder that the Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 14th, at 7:30 p.m. at Margaret Roolker’s home. The book is 4-1-9 by Will Ferguson. This is an interesting book to say the least, so come on out and join us for a great evening!

On September 17th, 2017 we will be hosting our fifth annual “We Care, We Remember, We Ride” Community Event Fundraiser in support of the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre. This event is a great opportunity to come out and let the kids try a fun riding circuit, tour the new facility & Maternity Home, and participate in a Remembrance Ceremony! The day will also host a car, truck and motorcycle Show’N’Shine, a BBQ (by donation), and a motorcycle ride for the riders to end the day. Look for the poster on the foyer bulletin board for more details.

In parts of the country a battle is going on between Armed Forces and ISIS related militants. The militants keep civilians captive as human shields. Last month four male hostages made a daring escape with the help of the armed forces. Escapees attributed their success to God's intervention: "That night, not a single sniper fired his shot; not a sound was heard. They hurried to a lake where they had to swim a thousand meters in heavy waves. The four men were able to stay together. God was there. God is good". Before their medical examination they stopped at a chapel to offer prayers of thanks for their deliverance and to remember the others remaining in captivity. The rescued men report that jihadists - among them child-soldiers - are staying within a mosque, along with 46 civilian captives, among them 20 women and 13 children. Hostages are forced to perform tasks for the jihadists. Ask God to preserve, comfort, encourage and deliver the remaining hostages. May the persecuted believers be reminded that they serve a God who "will supply every need...according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19).
