September 24 Bulletin

Bethel News

The Worship, Hospitality & Nursery Schedules for October through December are in your church mail boxes today. Please take a moment to look at these and mark down when you are participating in one of the schedules. We could really use some more people to help out with greeting before the worship services and also it would be great to have some more coffee makers/ servers for the time of fellowship after the morning worship service. Give Cindy a call at 403-782-6400 or email at bchurch2@shaw.ca if you are able to help with this.

Bethel Newsletter:

We are starting to work on the October edition of our newsletter. We hope to go into production the night of September 29th so it will be in your mailboxes on Sunday, October 1st.. We look forward to hearing from you, the congregation as we celebrate Thanksgiving and the new season of programs and education in our church. We are always ready for stories, poems, drawings, photos, recipes of the season, updates from your program, whatever you wish to share to build up the family of Bethel CRC. We look forward to hearing from you.

Do you like to sing or play an instrument?

The Worship Ministry Leadership team is looking for people to join our worship teams. Not sure if this is for you? Consider starting by attending a worship team practice to check it out. If you're interested in joining, even for part of the time, talk to Mel Wildeboer at 403-782-1584 or any member of a worship team.

A new photo wall has been put up. We are sorry if we missed anyone who is a member or has just joined Bethel and would like your picture included. New or updated photos are always welcome. If you have children who are studying or working elsewhere and are not on your family picture, please submit a photo of them to include. Submit all photos to Ann Wildeboer or put them in her mail box so she can update the board.

Thank you for participating in our “Welcome Home” activity. It is good to have people willing to host guests for lunch on Sundays. If you have not signed up to be a Welcome Home family host, please consider adding your name to the list. Email or phone Jan Zuidhof (ptrzdhf@telus.net or 403-885-5263) to let her know you would like to be on the list.

There will be a meeting at CACHS on Wednesday, October 4th at 7:30 p.m. with Christian Journeys, our tour company, to discuss itinerary and questions. IRAN - This September, children from families belonging to the Church of Iran denomination in the cities of Rasht and Shiraz have been told they must either study Shi'a Islam or leave school. Originally, these children, the majority of whom are second-generation Christians, and thereby recognized by the Iranian constitution to be part of a minority faith community, were granted access to religious instruction designed by members of the Christian community and approved by the Ministry of Education. Iran is party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which recognizes the rights of parents to ensure that the religious and moral education of their children is in line with their own convictions. Pray that God will uphold these children and their families, helping them to wisely deal with the situation. Rather, may the Spirit of our Lord instill within them a desire to grow and learn, to "increase in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men." (Luke 2:52). Considering this Biblical text, may the educational officials maintain the rights of the Christian students, in keeping with the country's constitution and, most importantly, God's Word.
