Food for Thought:

This special time of the year gives us so many reasons to praise God.

Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and Sacrifice; Alleluia! Alleluia!

"But for you who revere my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings." Malachi 4:2

Today we bring our offerings for EduDeo Ministries. EduDeo Ministries is a Canadian Christian mission organization serving children in developing countries with quality education rooted in a Biblical worldview. Their vision and mission is, every community transformed by the gospel, and to advance Christ-centered education for children worldwide.

Next Sunday, December 17th we will take an offering for Lacombe and District Volunteer Link

which is a registered charity that offers assistance to many people in our community. They drive people to medical appointments when they cannot drive themselves. They provide help in many ways to support those in need.

The meaning of the Advent wreath and theme – Darkness & Light:

The Advent wreath is large and circular in shape. The circle has no beginning or end, reminding us of God’s unending love for us. It is made of evergreens, which are a sign of life in an otherwise lifeless winter. They point to the new life and the hope of eternal life that we find in Christ.

The focus of the candle lighting is on the increasing light. A spark of hope was kindled by the promise of a death-blow to the serpent. That spark grew as God continued to reveal his plan: Think of Isaac, an only son whose father was asked to sacrifice him; Ruth, and her kinsman-redeemer Boaz; dry bones coming to life; a green shoot growing out of a tree stump and a virgin conceiving a child. Darkness gives way to dawn. The Light of the World inhabits our time and space. As we see the increasing light of our Advent wreath, let’s bow down in worship, full of wonder and joy! Our Saviour has been born!

Next Sunday, December 17th

Is the third Sunday of Advent and the focus will be on the prophecies of Isaiah 9 and 11. We also welcome Pastor Neil De Koning from Woody Nook CRC as he leads us in worship.
