December 24 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

From the Fellowship MLT:

We would like to make our Christmas season after church fellowship special by serving goodies with our coffee and juice. We would appreciate it if you could share some of your baking with us for the December 25th and New Year’s Eve services. Thank you

From the Treasurer:

Since December 31st falls on a Sunday, I ask that all donations for the budget be submitted by December 26th to ensure they will be credited to 2017. August Luymes

The Pastor Search Committee

is still coveting your prayers. We are awaiting the reply from Pastor Aaron Greydanus but in the meantime we have gone over the profiles of the pastors we have looked at before. This is a busy time for all pastors, but rather than adopting a "wait-and-see" policy over this Christmas and New Year's season, we do not want to waste time, either. We trust that the Lord will continue to guide us in these things.

Christmas Ornament Fundraiser for the Mexico Mission trip:

There is a sample on the Youth Bulletin board of the Christmas Ornaments the Mexico Mission Team is selling. They come in a light and dark stain and the cost is $20. Please contact a Mission Member for purchase and delivery. THANK YOU! Hailey Wildeboer, Coltin Wildeboer, Aiden Heidelberg, John van Iperen, Lucas Tenbrinke, Emily Eisses, Reva Prins, Anna Johnson, Nathan Baong, Adam Werner, Carina Tenbrinke, Andrew Tenbrinke, Jessica Bouwman and Terry Vandenborn.

Bethel Alpha:

"I love to tell the story, tis pleasant to repeat, what seems each time I tell it more wonderfully sweet." We plan to host Alpha after Circle of Friends suppers on Thursdays for 10 weeks starting January 25th. Alpha is an opportunity for us to learn to talk about and share our faith. So far we have 5 team members, and we are looking for one or two more. Our first meeting will be January 4th after we share a meal at the Circle of Friends supper. Let Henry Eisses know if you are interested in joining us at 304-782-2345. Please keep us in your prayers.

Cadets will be collecting bottles, cans, milk jugs etc.

for our annual bottle drive that will be held January 6, 2018 at Herman Scholing’s garage. You can drop them off at his place between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or if you want them picked up before or on that day please contact Grant Zuidhof at 403-896-2856, Randy Wildeboer at 403-848-1560, or Adam Eisses at 403-874-6744 if you have some to donate. We also are collecting car batteries as well.

Experimental Bible Study:

On January 7th we will have an organizational meeting after the morning service. We still have room for an adult couple to join us. If you feel led to be part of this multi-generation study, please contact Margaret at 403-782-4506.

Bill 24 Bulletin announcement

The recent passage of Bill 24 through the Alberta legislature poses a significant challenge to the notion of the primacy of parental rights with respect to the education of their children. This ought to draw the attention and concern of all parents, including those who choose to have their children educated in Christian schools. Please pray for all educational stakeholders and the leaders of area Christian schools as they address the issues arising from compliance requirements. If you require further information, feel free to contact your local Christian school office.

Central Alberta Christian High School’s Fall Drive/Capital Campaign goal

For this year was set at $600,000.00. So far, this year’s Drive has resulted in donations totaling $126,948.50. We would ask that you prayerfully consider to what extent you can support CACHS through this year’s drive. Please contact Wendy Barnes (Business Administrator) 403-782-4535 or Phil Tenbrinke (Board Treasurer) 403-782-7951 if you have any questions or need assistance. You may also mail your donations directly to C.A.C.H.S. 22 Eagle Road, Lacombe, AB T4L 1G7, Attention: Wendy Barnes. The school will be closed for the Christmas break from December 22nd to January 7th, if you would like to still donate you can drop off your cheque in the mailbox outside the front doors as we will be picking up the mail during the break or give Wendy a call at 403-885-5187. A deposit will be made on noon Friday, December 29th. We would like to thank the many people who have contributed to our annual Fall Drive/Capital Campaign.
