UPCOMING SERVICES

Next Sunday, January 14th

We welcome Pastor Bruce Gritter from The River CRC in Edmonton as he leads us in worship.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to John Stol as he celebrates his birthday on Thursday. Wishing you a wonderful day with family, friends and the Lord’s richest of blessings daily. J

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Thank you

To the congregation for all the baking donated to our coffee fellowship after the morning services during this Christmas season. It was much appreciated and we will enjoy some of it after the service today again.

Pastor Search Committee:

In October we had 3 possible candidates for our Pastor position. One of those pastors accepted a call to another congregation and the other dropped out for personal reasons. We were left with Pastor Aaron Greydanus. We had a lengthy interview online in November and afterward we invited him and his wife to visit us. We knew he was having a conversation with another church and that is most likely the reason it took a while for an answer. Unfortunately he has accepted a call to that other church.

Now we are back to reading profiles and listening to sermons. After listening to some very good sermons, we are feeling hopeful and have a renewed excitement. We are reviewing the profiles on the CRC Pastor Search Portal. We have also had a few inquiries from interested Pastors/students who have read our advertisement. We encourage the congregation to make a suggestion by filling out one of the forms which are available on the table in the foyer. Please continue to pray for us and our church.

DENOMINATIONAL NEWS

Thank you! We give thanks for you, the members of Bethel CRC

For supporting the work of Diaconal Ministries Canada, through the Operation Manna Program. Your church has graciously provided $605 in Operation Manna support for the 2017 calendar year. This money helps Operation Manna staff walk with creative and exciting small ministries in local communities across Canada, to give them support, guidance, and counsel; as well as grant money. This support helps ministries to share the love of Christ and transform their communities with His love. By giving to Operation Manna, your church has been a big part of this: a real change in the lives of real people across Canada who have so much to give but who find themselves in circumstances of need. They are so blessed by your gift; THANK-YOU for your part in this ministry!

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Mexico

Expulsions of religious minorities from Tuxpan de Bolaños, have led to the forcible displacement of 64 men, women and children from the Huichol indigenous group on December 4th because of their religious beliefs. They were violently removed from their town and taken by truck into the mountains where they were abandoned. Local authorities destroyed most of the homes. Among the 64 expelled citizens were 22 evangelical Christians. They were able to find shelter at a Church in Nayarit State; the 42 expelled Jehovah Witnesses got lodging in a municipal auditorium in Jalisco State. Pray for the many wrongfully treated families and individuals. May they find a welcoming community where they can rebuild their lives. May they be used as vessels of God's compassion and grace by ministering to one another and also to those whom they will meet along their new journey.
