2018-02-04 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Pastor Search Committee:

First of all, we would like to thank the congregation for the pastor suggestions we have received. It is very appreciated! We had a meeting at Cora’s house this week. As Pastor Ryan Pedde suggested, we listened and sang to “Lord I Need You” on the T.V. What a great way to start a meeting! After many sermons and discussion we have narrowed our search to 4 gifted prospective pastors. We have divided our team into pairs and will now contact these men for a short telephone interview. Our next step will be reviewing our phone interviews as a committee and then preparing for the longer interviews. Thank you again for your prayers.

Dr. Elliott and his wife Jocelyn had run a 120-bed clinic in Djibo for 40 years until their abduction, two years ago. The abduction was claimed by a branch of Al-Qaeda in North Africa. Jocelyn was released in February of 2016. Dr. Elliott was providing free treatment to patients, saving them significant amounts of money and great inconvenience. After the closure of the clinic, people are now required to travel hundreds of kilometres via poor transportation links in order to reach the capital, Ouagadougou, for medical care. Most affected by the closure of the clinic are children and the elderly. Ask the Lord to intervene in the lives of the hostages while they wait for their release. Pray that they will receive protection, spiritual and physical fortitude and proper nourishment and care. Also intercede for family members and for the people who are in need of medical care in the remote area.
