Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to Hans Spelt with the celebration of his birthday today. May you be blessed on your birthday and in the year to come!

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

It’s that time of year again to consider Council nominations. This year we require 2 Elders, 2 Youth Elders and 1 Deacon to be added as part of Council for the next three years.

Completing their terms this year as Elder are Marvin Ebens and Darran Vreugdenhil, Youth Elder, Wayne Bouwman and Terry Vandenborn and Deacon, Ed Stol.

Who is eligible for nomination? All office bearers are given a two year break between terms of service. Those who are therefore ineligible are: Gord Bos, Cathy Dowling, Henry Eisses, August Luymes and Craig Van Stryland. Women are eligible for the position of deacon. You do not need to speak with each person to nominate them and you can nominate as many people as you feel are qualified. The district elders will officially approach people with the appropriate amount of nominations.

The present Council members are: Wayne Bouwman, Marvin Ebens, Pete Heidelberg, Bryan Noordhof, Peter Prins, Trudy Salomons, Herman Scholing, Ed Stol, Terry Vandenborn, Kyle Van Stryland, Rod Venhuis, Darran Vreugdenhil, and Rick Wildeboer.

Please prayerfully consider nominating those members you feel are gifted to serve as office bearers. A nomination form will be handed out before the collections are taken during the March 4, 2018 worship service and the form will be collected as you leave the sanctuary that morning. For those who cannot be present on March 4th, nomination ballots will be available on February 25, 2018 from any Council member. All nominations need to be submitted to the Council prior to the Council Executive meeting on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact Wayne Bouwman. In the weeks preceding nominations we seek the Lord for His guidance in this process. Council deeply appreciates your prayerful consideration in this matter.

Today is the deadline for sending us corrections, as we are planning to print the new church directory by the end of February. Thank you from the Church secretaries!

Bethel Newsletter:

Another month gone by. Time for our March edition. We celebrate Palm Sunday and Good Friday in March with Easter Sunday being April 1st. We do look forward to Spring beginning to arrive in March so send us some notes or poems or drawings or recipes or stories and we will do our best to include them in the Bethel newsletter. As always, we strive to make it interesting, informative reading that helps us stay connected and grow as a family of disciples of Christ. Praying for one another and encouraging each other is the best way to grow.

Vacation Bible School

Time moves fast, and the snow we see now will be gone in a few weeks! Seasons will always come and go, and with that we need to start thinking ahead. The first meetings for this year’s VBS have been held, and we are asking for helpers. If you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you to be part of this children's ministry, please join us. VBS will be the week of July 16th – 20th. For information you can contact Harriet Luymes, Mel Zuidhof or Margaret Roolker. Watch for further announcements, also in the Newsletter!

Friendship is a ministry for disabled adults that meets here at Bethel on Monday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. from October through April. We meet for singing, Bible Study, prayer and snack. We have mentors(teachers) and Friends (students) from many backgrounds and churches. Currently we have 17 Friends and 12 mentors. The program is designed to have one mentor per friend. It is very important to our friends that they each have their own mentor. They take pride in their mentor and cherish their friendship. Currently we have 5 mentors missing from our program and have 5 friends eagerly awaiting their own mentor. We have 4 men (one young man in his 20s) and one young lady looking for a mentor. If you enjoy an evening out with a friend singing, praying, worshipping and eating this is the program for you. I promise you will leave with a smile on your face and your cup filled for the week!!!! Please call or text if you would like to discuss this further! Donna Vandenborn at 403-506-9993.
