OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

This weekend many youth from Bethel and other local churches are attending the YC2018 Youth Conference in Red Deer. The theme this year is SOLDOUT and we pray that the speakers and Christian music artists will speak to our youth in amazing ways. We pray too for safety and give thanks for the willing leaders who are part of the group.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Church Directory Update:

Please take note that Craig and Marcella Van Stryland have changed their email address. You can email them both at marcellavanstryland@gmail.com.

From Council:

With some deliberation it is with excitement and anticipation that we present Brian Schouten to our congregation for a possible call. If you have any questions, please talk to someone on the Search Committee (Jennifer Zuidhof, Marvin Ebens, Cora Hoekstra, Mel Wildeboer, Betty Scholing, Terry Vandenborn, Andrew Tenbrinke or Debby van Iperen). We will be voting as a congregation on Sunday, June 3, 2018. If you cannot attend the June 3rd service please put your sealed proxy vote in Jennifer Zuidhof’s mailbox. If you are interested in hearing more of Brian Schouten’s sermons please check online.

From the General Administration Leadership team – Reporting Building Issues

General Administration Leadership team needs your help!! If you see or encounter a problem with the building, electronics, kitchen, bathroom, classroom, anything that may be a concern and need to be tended to PLEASE report all issues to Dana at the office as soon as possible. You can do this by email, bchurch@shaw.ca or call the church Wednesdays or Fridays, 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. We at GALT would like to streamline the process as we often hear that certain issues have been a problem for months before they are noticed by our committee members.

Certified First Aid Certificates:

The General Administration Leadership team is looking ahead to our Emergency procedures and was wondering how many of our Bethel members are First Aid certified and prepared in case of an emergency. This is a request that should be offered voluntarily from you. In no way is this a requirement to help someone in need, strictly for our information. If you could email Dana at the church or call her in the office it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance with these matters.

From the Education Ministry Leadership Team:

Please be advised that starting June 3rd there will be no preschool Sunday School offered over the summer months. We thank our Sunday School, Children & Worship and Treasure Seeker teachers and helpers for all their work with our children over the past season. A special THANK YOU to our Sunday School coordinator Jessica Heidelberg for her many dedicated years of direction and service. Wishing you all a wonderful time of rest.

Prayer Meeting:

Our next prayer meeting will be on Tuesday May 29th, 10 a.m. at the home of Margaret Roolker.

Hearty Meals

is an organized way members of the congregation can make a meal and bring it to other members in need of some help. Marcella Van Stryland is the coordinator, so if you would like to be on the list of those she can contact to bring a meal or if you are aware of members of the congregation needing assistance, please contact Marcella at 403-784-3545 or email her at marcellavanstryland@gmail.com.

Bethel Newsletter:

June is fast approaching. It’s the month of Graduations, Seniors Week, Father’s Day and the end of school and the beginning of summer. The newsletter team is getting ready for another edition. If you have stories, poems, recipes, drawings or suggestions for us, please hand them in to Harriet Luymes or Anita Geldof by Wednesday, May 30th so we can have the next newsletter in your boxes for Sunday, June 3rd.

The Bethel/Wolf Creek Vacation Bible School

will be held July 16th – 20th and we need your help!! We are looking for Crew Leaders and Helpers who accompany a small group of kids to the various stations, build caring relationships with those in their group and to help where necessary. We could also use helpers at the different stations. If you feel called to be part of this exciting ministry, there is a signup sheet in the foyer. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mel Zuidhof, Margaret Roolker, or Harriet Luymes. We look forward to your participation.
