You are Invited!

It’s with great pleasure to announce to the Bethel congregation that we are celebrating an anniversary, our 10th anniversary of Circle of Friends Community Dinner. This Thursday, June 7th at 5 p.m. we would love to share a meal with you with our community members. Take some time to fellowship and praise our Lord together for the many blessings He has showered on this ministry. All are welcome! There will be a complete history write up in the June Bethel Newsletter, take a moment and learn more about the Circle of Friends humble beginnings.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bill 24 Legal Challenge:

Lacombe Christian School, Ponoka Christian School, Rimbey Christian School and Central Alberta Christian High School have joined a coalition of schools and individuals seeking an injunction to suspend Bill 24, an amendment to the School Act passed in the fall session of the Provincial legislature. This bill unfairly restricts parental and religious rights, and its constitutionality is being challenged on this basis. A court date has been scheduled for June 8. Please pray for these schools and Societies and the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, their legal representative, as they seek justice in this vital matter.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Authorities in China have been continuing their campaign against Christianity, targeting unregistered house churches. In recent days, at least two churches in Beijing have been raided by authorities who pressured landlords to cancel the leases. As Christians in China continue to face opposition from many different directions, pray that they will have wisdom to know the appropriate ways in which to respond. May God strengthen and encourage these Chinese believers, so they will stand firm in Christ and continue the spread of the Gospel.
