We welcome our Summer Pastor, Steve Berkenpas

As he joins us for the summer and part of September. Here’s a bit of personal history from Steve himself: I graduated from Regent in 2016 and went to Calvin Seminary in the fall of 2017 to complete the Residency of my EPMC program. I have spent the past 5 years at First CRC in Vancouver, 4 months as interim pastor at Living Hope CRC in Abbotsford and the past summer I was the interim pastor of Agassiz CRC. Outside of the theology/pastor type things, I can be described as a coffee roasting - bread making - volleyball playing - board game enthusiast. Perhaps a few too many adjectives, but it gets some of the non resume things out there.

Next Sunday, July 22nd

Pastor Steven Berkenpas and Pastor Gary Bomhof will lead us in worship. Finn Willem, son of Kyle and Erica Van Stryland will be baptized and August Luymes will be installed as an elder. We will also commission Pastor Steve as he begins his time of service with us.

Lacombe Days Pancake Breakfast & Community Worship Service in the Park on Sunday, July 29th:

Everyone is invited to a free pancake breakfast and a community worship service on Sunday, July 29th during Lacombe Days. Both events will be held at the ME Global Athletic Park just east of the Lacombe Composite High school. The breakfast runs from 8:00 to 9:45 a.m. with the worship service at 10:00 a.m. An offering will be collected during service that will be given to a local ministry/charity (to be determined and announced at the worship service). There will be NO BETHEL worship service or bulletin on this day as all are encouraged to attend this community worship service!

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Please remember Shirley Bauer in your daily prayers. She has severe health problems and is unable to come to church which she does love to do. She is so thankful for the times she was able to attend Bethel and her trust in the Lord gives her daily hope to be able to return to church someday.

Congratulations to Gerda Van Essen with the celebration of her birthday tomorrow, July 16th and to Jacob Prins with his birthday on Wednesday, July 18th. May God bless you both on your special days and in the year to come!

Dear Friends, Warm greetings! Next Saturday, July 21st our daughter Kristin will be getting married to Johnny Lee here in Grand Rapids. Johnny and Kristin have known each other all the way back to our Nigeria days, since Johnny's parents were also missionaries there. Thanks for your prayers for the wedding. We're looking forward to a wonderful celebration. Our love to you! Albert and Carolyn Strydhorst

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us. Please keep Jenny Bajema, Klaas Boskers, Rena DeRuiter, Lea Dykstra and Ernie Stebner in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

1. We are thankful that Paul Prins could join us as an appointed clerk.
