Our offering today

is for Fuente De Vida Church in Ensenada, Mexico. We as a church continue to support Pastors Jes’us & Evelia from the Fuente de Vida Church. We have sent many mission teams there to help build the church and homes in the colonia nearby. Please continue to support them in prayer as well.

Next Sunday, December 16th

our offering will be for Lacombe and District Volunteer Link which is a registered charity that offers assistance to many people in our community. They provide help in many ways to support those in need.

Next Sunday, December 16th

We welcome Pastor Jacob Boer from Hope CRC in Stony Plain as he leads us in worship. This will be the third Sunday of Advent and Pastor Jacob will be focusing on the Bible passages of Isaiah 7 and Colossians 1:15-20. His message title is Jesus, Our God.

Pastor Jacob will be coming as a prospective Pastor for our church, after the service we will be serving coffee and cake in the Fellowship Hall. This is an opportunity for anyone to ask questions to get to know the Pastor better. For more information please contact a member of the Search Committee – Terry Vandenborn, Cora Hoekstra, Mel Wildeboer, Andrew Tenbrinke, Marvin Ebens, Betty Scholing, Debby van Iperen and Jen Zuidhof.

Blue Christmas Service

Many this season are ready to sing Joy to the World! But when our feelings don’t match the festivities, we can start to feel that this season is not for us. Whether this is the first Christmas without someone we love or we’ve been hurting for a long time, we can gather in the dark night to worship God in the midst of suffering and discover that we are not alone. Wood Nook CRC invites you to come and worship, Blue Christmas, a service acknowledging the pain we carry, Sunday, December 16th at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome!

Food for Thought:I read the "Teen Creed" the other day. One of its points deals with your choice in friends. Do you have friends? Are you looking for a friend among your peers, classmates, cousins? Do you ever think of Jesus as a friend? You think that's perhaps a bit "out of this world"? It is totally an Out Of This World Friendship...with someone who came to this world to move this world, to be your friend. Think about that one!

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote to the congregation in Ephesus, “And prays in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18; see also Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2 Perhaps a text to put on your fridge or bathroom mirror.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember John Bos, Shirley Bauer, Ray Ames, Henry & Anita Geldof and Steve Ogi. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3

Earlier this week John Bos was moved from the Lacombe Hospital to the Red Deer Hospice Centre. The family is very pleased with the facility and the gentle care that John is receiving. Please continue to pray for John, Shirley and the rest of the family, as they go through each day together.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us. Please keep Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter in your prayers. Also continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

Spiritual Growth Survey

In your mailbox last week, you found a Spiritual Growth Survey (for all ages Junior and Senior High and up). The goal of the survey is to clarify how we can move forward as a church. This is about growing in our walk with God and each other. Thanks to all who filled in a survey and placed it in Margaret's mailbox. If you haven't filled one out yet there are copies on the table in the foyer. Please take time to complete them and have them back to us as soon as possible. Margaret, Craig or Henry are available if you have any questions. Thank you!
