2018-12-23 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember John Bos, Shirley Bauer, Ray Ames, Henry & Anita Geldof and Steve Ogi. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3

Please note that Pita Doornenbal has moved from suite 203 to suite 403 at the Royal Oak.

Dear Bethel Congregation, I would like to thank you for all the love, prayer, food, phone calls, cards and visits over the last while. It has been much appreciated. I will be spending Christmas with my daughter in Athabasca. May you all have a blessed Christmas and the best for the New Year! Shirley Bauer

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us. Please keep Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter in your prayers. Also continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Food for Thought:

At this time of the year we are reminded of Jesus' birth. Who was He, born in that lowly stable? Jesus, the King, God's Son, the Savior, Jesus, the Sun Who is risen with healing in His wings, Malachi 4:2. Who doesn't need healing? This is why the same Jesus said: Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened....and you will find rest (healing) for your souls. Matthew 11:28

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, members of one 'household of the faith', let us not forget to pray for one another. This is both a busy and a wonderful time. But it can be a heartbreaking time as well. Many need your prayersThink especially of those in prison, those persecuted for their faith, the many grieving and the suffering. If we are one Body on Christ, please remember your brothers and sisters in the household of faith.

Hope in the Messiah

“Nevertheless that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.”

Isaiah 9:1,2

Come out and join the CACHS drama class

for a fun evening of laughs and audience engagement. This evening will include the one act comedy; This is a Test by Stephen Gregg along with other skits and performances that showcase the talents of the performers. This is a Test is a play about a young high school student, Alan, who cannot seem to stop daydreaming long enough to write his test. This lighthearted comedy is relatable to anyone who has ever been in school or had to take a test. You can purchase tickets in advance by calling 403-782-4535 or at the door, if any tickets are remaining. This is one evening you will not want to miss! Cost for this event is $10 per person, on Thursday & Friday, January 17th & 18th, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. at CACHS Gym.

Iranian Christians are requesting prayer for four Christian converts who have been detained in the city of Ahvaz since December 2nd. Two sisters were taken for interrogation and were physically assaulted; later they were transferred to one of Iran's prisons, known for its cruel and brutal treatment of prisoners of conscience, on bail of $444.00 for each woman. The whereabouts of two other detainees are unknown. In the last month more than 150 Christians have been arrested in an attempt to 'warn' against sharing their faith. Pray that the Lord will strengthen and encourage these four Christians and enable them to answer their interrogators wisely. Pray for the release of all four, and for care and protection for families and friends. May the Iranian officials, responsible for the violation of the religious rights of their citizens, treat those in detention justly, respecting their dignity.
