Next Sunday, February 24th

We welcome Pastor John Ooms from Inglewood CRC in Edmonton as he lead us in worship. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to pray for Henry Geldof and Steve Ogi. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3.

We received word that Shirley Bauer passed away on Monday, February 11th at the age of 81. Funeral details are not yet available. Please remember her family and friends in prayer in this time of sorrow.

Congratulations to Ella Land with the celebration of her birthday today! May you be blessed with an amazing day of worship & fellowship!

Nominations for Church Council

It's that time year again to consider Council nominations. This year we require two Elders, two Youth elders, and three Deacons to be added as part of Council for the next three years.

Completing their terms this year are Youth Elder Terry Vandenborn and Deacons Bryan Noordhof, Trudy Salomons and Rick Wildeboer.

Who is eligible for nomination? All office bearers are given a two year break between terms of service. Those who are therefore excused eligibility are Wayne Bouwman, Marvin Ebens, Ed Stol and Darran Vreugdenhil.

Women are eligible for the position of Deacon.

You do not need to speak with each person to nominate them and you can nominate as many people as you feel are qualified. The district Elders will officially approach people with the appropriate amount of nominations.

The present Council members are Pete Heidelberg, August Luymes, Bryan Noordhof, Peter Prins, Trudy Salomons, Herman Scholing, Andrew Tenbrinke, Terry Vandenborn, Rod Venhuis and Rick Wildeboer.

Please prayerfully consider nominating those members you feel are gifted to serve as office bearers. A nomination form will be handed out before the offerings are taken during the March 3, 2019 Worship service and the form will be collected as you leave the sanctuary that morning. For those who cannot be present on March 3rd, nomination forms will be available on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from any council member. All nominations need to be submitted to the Council prior to the Council Executive meeting on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. If you have any questions please contact Peter Prins or Herman Scholing. In the weeks preceding nominations we seek the Lord for his guidance in this process. Council deeply appreciates your prayerful consideration in this matter.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Sudan/Egypt

Ebtehaj fled from Sudan in 2005 after being jailed five times for her faith in Christ. In Cairo, she met a Sudanese pastor, also a convert from Islam, and the two married. But her life remained in danger, as Ebtehaj discovered when she was kidnapped. During the attack, they mandated she divorce her husband and return to her Sudanese family. After stating that she would rather die than return to Islam, the two men raped her and beat her repeatedly. Joined by two others, they eventually grabbed the woman's hand and forced her signature on a paper claiming that she had returned to Islam. She was then knocked out and left unconscious, only to later awaken on the streets of Cairo. Pray for the safety of Ebtehaj and her family. May those opposing her faith recognize their own need to trust in Jesus for their salvation. Also remember other converts to Christ from Sudan who are being pressured to return to Islam or die.
