UPCOMING SERVICES

Next Sunday, May 12th

We continue our series in Acts, looking at various signs and wonders within the new Christian community as the early church was being established. We will be turning to Acts 9:36-43, Death is Overcome. This is the story of Tabitha being raised from the dead. We will tie this message of new life together with Teen Challenge. Representatives of this wonderful program will be sharing how Jesus has worked within their lives to bring them from a road of death into new life. All are welcome!

The Birth of the Church: Signs and Wonders

  • OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to pray for Henry Geldof and Steve Ogi. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3.

Congratulations to Hilda Van Stryland and Goldie Whitecotton!! Each celebrates a birthday this week. Hilda’s will be tomorrow on Monday and Goldie on Wednesday. May your special day be filled with the Lord’s rich blessings with family and friends! J

In celebration of Hilda Van Stryland’s 85th birthday, cake will be served by the family after the morning service today.

Al Omar Family: The Lacombe Community Refugee Effort asks for your prayers and compassion for Naema in the passing away of her mother on Wednesday. Being far from family at this time is very difficult. We ask also for prayer for the final go ahead for her sister, Khadija and her children to be able to come to Canada. All the requirements have long been met and we wait for the travel arrangements to be finalized.

    Bethel News

Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

    Prayer:

At our last prayer meeting we read again, Ephesians 1:17-23. ‘I keep asking that the God of or Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better..." We made these words part of our prayer for you, the members of our congregation because together we form the body of Christ, the Son, and wouldn't we all want to know the Father better? We meet regularly every other Tuesday morning at the home of Margaret Roolker, at 10 a.m. Our next meeting will be May 14th.

    Directory Information:

In the near future a new directory will be delivered. New information has been requested for assistance in locating rural members. In your mailbox today is a copy of your directory information. If you are a rural member please add your 911/Blue Location Sign information. Also for all members, please add cell phones or emails, anything you would like to add. You may add information you prefer private. By adding an email and stating it private, adds you to the mass email list without having it posted in the directory. Please place your completed entries in the secretary mailbox on the lower left side of the mailboxes. If there are no corrections to be made, simply discard the paper in the recycling box under the mailboxes. Contact Dana for assistance or more information.

    The Bridge App:

A directory will be located in the Bridge App functions. The information you provide for the hard copy directory will be added to this. Please know that your information is only used by Bethel and its members only. No information is open to the outside public. Bridge App information was introduced in the April Newsletter and more will be available to you soon. Dana is working hard to launch Bethel’s Bridge App as soon as possible.

    Police Check Updates:

Over the course of the next few weeks, members 16 years of age and above will receive notice of their police checks that need to be done. Contact Dana at the office for assistance.

    Book Club:

    PERSECUTED CHURCH

    Algeria

Changes in government, after months of civil unrest, did not result in the desired soon-to-take-place democratic elections. Thus far, the protests have been peaceful, but there is fear that the situation may degrade. Local Algerian authorities are targeting the country's churches. Several Christian leaders are accused of conducting illegal worship services without prior permit, they have been ordered to appear before a judge. Please intercede for these churches in Algeria as they face opposition from governmental authorities. Pray that the country's citizens will find peace and establish a democratic government that respects the rights of all people --including those of the Christian faith.
