2019-05-19 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to pray for Henry Geldof and Steve Ogi. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer, Shirley Bos and Rena DeRuiter,. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3.

Please remember Clarence Kits in your prayers today as he was taken to the Peter Lougheed hospital in Calgary earlier this week. He was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm, and went through surgery successfully. He is now resting comfortably. Please pray for continued healing with his recovery. Remember Doreen and the family in the coming days as they prepare to care for Clarence with his return home.

We would like to thank the congregation for their thoughts and prayers with Clarence and his recent health scare. This was truly a miracle, and we clearly felt the Lord working. So grateful for all that he has done, we look forward to having Clarence home and healthy soon. Doreen Kits and family

Congratulations to the Zuidhof Family! On May 15, 2019 Nicole Elizabeth was born, a sweet baby girl for Melanie, Grant and big brother Eric. Both mom and baby are doing well. We thank the Lord for his provision and ask for continued blessings of health and healing in the days and weeks to come.

Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Directory Information:

Thank you for the amazing response to the directory additions. Date of printing will be Wednesday, May 28th. Please make sure you have all your additions in by Wednesday, May 22nd. Contact Dana for assistance or more information.

Police Check Updates:

Today you will notice cover letters for Criminal Record Checks for those members who are required to have one done, members 16 years of age and above. Ministry team leaders will find a packet of letters to be delivered to your members in ministry that do not have a mailbox here at Bethel. I would greatly appreciate if you could hand them out at your next meeting. It is recommended that this be done every 3 to 5 years and some members are very overdue. Please take time to get this done. In most cases it doesn’t take much time. Contact Dana at the office for assistance.

are you considering doing Profession of Faith? Are you just interested in learning more about faith and life and how faith shapes life? Pastor Jake is offering a 5-week Profession of Faith class on Monday evenings from 7 – 830 p.m. going through till June 24th. As you read this, we have had yet another prayer meeting, interceding for our congregation and its needs. We invite you to join us, if that's possible. God invites us to pray: "You have not, because you don't ask....Ask, and it will be given you...pray without ceasing...they prayed with one accord....if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and call....I will hear from heaven...." Please stop and ask, and see if the Holy Spirit isn't nudging you to join in praying with us. Our next regular meeting is again on Tuesday, May 28th.

VISION Team will meet again at the home of August Luymes, on Saturday, June 1st at 8.30 a.m.

GEMS Camp News:

We have some exciting news for girls going into Grade 9 in September 2019. In the past, the cut-off for coming to camp as a camper was Grade 8, and coming as a CIT was Grade 10. This year we would like to introduce a program for Grade 9 girls called the Transition Year. It will be just that; a camp year between being a camper and being a Junior Counselor. The girls will be taught leadership skills, be encouraged to discover their unique talents and gifts, and will be challenged to build on their faith, all within the unique atmosphere of camp. The registration process will remain the same, except for the cost, which will be $100. The deadline for registration for the TY year will be May 30, 2019. Please contact Bonnie Bennik at gbbennik@platinum.ca if you have any questions.

Discover the art of aging with grace. You are invited to attend an information session about Charis Village, Lacombe’s new senior housing development. Join us in the County Room of the Lacombe Memorial Centre on May 22, 28, 29 at 7 pm. Aging with grace takes a plan, what is your plan?

On May 10th, 141 Christians (104 women, 23 men and 14 minors) were arrested and are being kept in different jails. None of them have been charged. There is growing concern about the well-being of the children and elderly persons. Their prison system is known for its brutality. Eritrea is known as 'the North Korea of Africa'. Pray for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of these persons. May the Lord be glorified through their testimonies and may the government servants hearts be changed.
