2019-06-09 Bulletin

Next Sunday, June 16th

Pastor Jake will be at Synod, our bi-national church meetings being held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Henry Eisses will be bringing us the Word from John 14 and reflecting of Goad as our Father.

An Appreciation Sunday

will be held on Sunday, June 23rd. During the service we will be taking some time to simply say Thank You to all of you who faithfully volunteer and give of your time, talents, treasures and heart to help Bethel be the beautiful family of Jesus followers that we are. Without you, there would be no Bethel Church. We will also be servicing cake after the service as a sweet treat to remind you that we appreciate everything everyone does.

Bethel BBQ Potluck Luncheon:

After the morning service on June 30th the Fellowship Ministry Leadership Team invites you to join us with our next Bethel Potluck. Please bring a Salad or Bag of Chips. The Dessert, Burgers, Buns and all the fixings will be supplied. We look forward to starting up the Summer BBQ season with you! All are welcome!

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to pray for Henry Geldof and Steve Ogi. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2 Timothy 1:3.

Pray For SYNOD 2019: Synod 2019 will meet on the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from Friday, June 14th to Thursday, June 20th. Pastor Jake will be attending Synod this year; we ask that you remember him in his travels and his time at the meetings. May our God bless everyone attending!

Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

From the Office

Last week in your mailboxes the new Bethel Directory had been delivered. Unfortunately I found my first discrepancy with a blue sign civic address number. Please change Walter & Ella Land, it should read 41219B Range Road 26-3. Please take a moment and read yours and if there are any number jumbles please let Dana know.

Dana will be preparing hospitality schedules in the coming weeks. Looking for more help in the nursery, coffee servers, greeters, ushers and lift operators. If you would like to add your name to any of these lists, contact Dana at the office. Please consider serving Bethel this way. Let’s all take part in making our worship services a more welcoming atmosphere for all, especially for our guests.

Due to the CACHS graduation ceremonies and Canada Day long weekend Dana would like the congregation to know that the deadline for the Sunday, June 30th bulletin will be Thursday, June 27th at 9 a.m.

In an effort to stay in touch over the summer months and create better community, starting Friday, July 5th the Bethel Bulletin will be emailed to all members on the mass email list every Friday afternoon. If you are not on that list and would like to add yourself, contact Dana. A little something to look forward to before the weekend starts!!

Book Club:

Ladies, our next meeting will be on Thursday, June 13th, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Margaret. The book this month is The Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton. Refreshments are by Pauline. For the month of July we will be meeting on the 11th and discussing The Pearl by Angela Hunt. Please note that there will be no meeting in August. Happy Reading!!

Lacombe Days Parade Float:

This year we are putting together a float for the parade and Pastor Jake is looking for energetic, excited volunteers to help plan. We need people who would like to ride along, others to help with materials, all to share Bethel Church with our great community Lacombe. Please touch base with Pastor Jake, so we can get this float on the road for July 27th!!!

The question was asked, "What are your dreams for Bethel?" And the Prayer Teamis also often talking about the same thing: What do we want for Bethel. More importantly, "What is God's agenda for Bethel?” He knows our hearts, and our future as a congregation. If you feel the Spirit moving you to prayer, please join us in our prayers for the congregation. Better still, join us at our meetings! We will be meeting again on Tuesday, June 11th, at 10 a.m.

Several Christians were gunned down as they made their way home from worship services on May 26th in the city of Jos. According to one witness, two persons were killed in one attack, while five others were killed in a separate incident that same day. As the violence continued, more than 12 houses were burned and a number of Christians were wounded. It is believed that local Fulani herdsmen are responsible for these attacks. Troops were dispatched to the area in an effort to restore calm but there have been reports of Christians being arrested in the aftermath of the attacks. Pray for God's peace to prevail in this violence-torn nation. Remember the families and friends who are mourning the loss of their loved ones. May the authorities deal with the situation wisely, holding those responsible for committing such crimes against humanity to account. Intercede for believers in vulnerable areas of Nigeria who are living in fear of further attacks, praying that they will not only receive protection but also the Lord's reassuring peace in their hearts.
