2019-09-15 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world, Diana Boot, Margaret Njuguna, Mark, Selina & Levi Patterson, Albert & Carolyn Strydhorst and John & Marian VanderMeer.

Prayer: Please never cease to pray for those you know. Those who are in your sphere of influence, your neighbors, co-workers, your Facebook friends, anyone! They all need your prayers very much right now.

Congratulations to Lies Boskers as she celebrates her birthday tomorrow. Wishing you a wonderful day filled with the Lord’s rich blessings with family and friends! J

Our condolences to Jennie Bajema as her daughter Dorothy Winia was taken home to her heavenly Father this past week and the funeral was held yesterday, Saturday September 14, 2019. May the Lord bless Jennie and her family. May He grant you peace and comfort.

From Pastor Jake:

What are your goals for this year? Have you made any plans on how you want to grow deeply in our faith, closer in your relationship with God and to become more like Jesus? The Deacons can help you with this. On September 29th you will find a Personal Faith plan in your mailboxes and on the foyer table for each person to fill out. There will be two Faith Plans for each person, one to give back to the Deacons, unsigned if you wish, and one for you to remind you of the goals and plans you have made for the upcoming year. You will be asked questions like, “Which part of your relationship with the Holy Spirit do you need to/desire to work on this year?” or “Which Spiritual Disciplines do you need to/desire to grow stronger I this year?” or “What would you like to study this coming year to help you grow in your faith?” and “What are some ways you need to/desire to serve this year?” We ask that these Personal Faith Plans be handed back on Sunday, October 6th.

A church community was barred from using its place of worship, even though it has done so for two decades. Authorities claim that churches are using residential buildings in ways they were not intended, even though a 1997 law permits religious worship on residential premises. The officials also claim that the buildings do not always meet necessary safety and planning regulations. The construction permits of buildings designated for worship are being denied and the efforts of those affected by this opposition are refused. The church's leadership has appealed the decision and intend to continue presenting this case to the courts, as far as necessary; they are prepared to take this matter to the European Court of Human Rights. Pray for wisdom and direction for this church and others that are attempting to navigate through the maze of Russia's most recently imposed legal regulations. May Christians be able to freely meet for worship throughout Russia without any governmental hindrance or opposition.

Food for Thought:

What if your blessings come through raindrops, what if your healing comes through tears? What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know you’re near...what if trials of this life are your mercies in disguise? Psalm 55:1, Listen to my prayer, O God....hear me and answer me. And verses 7 and 8: Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest- I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.
