2019-11-03 Bulletin

Next Sunday, November 10th

We will continue our 5-week series on the Canons of Dordt by reflecting on John 3:1-21, Whoever Believes. Jesus’ death for our sin washes us clean from the dirt of sin on our souls sand hearts and makes us right with God. But not everyone is washed clean; there are those who reject Jesus as their Saviour and choose themselves as ruler of their lives and so Jesus’ sacrifice is not applied to them, even though it is capable to washing away all the sin in the world.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues.

Prayer: Please keep up praying, none of us can do without, and the Lord knows that. He told us, through the apostle Paul, "Pray without ceasing." But there may be some who are so down, they think God won't listen to them, so they don't pray. There may be some who are so overwhelmed; they don't know what to pray for anymore. So we need to uphold these suffering brothers and sisters, and pray for them. Just as Christ prays for His Church.

A Prayer Request: At Rod's routine drivers medical the doctor noticed an unusual mass in his right side. After an ultrasound and scans and further blood tests, it was determined there was a cancerous growth attached to Rod's right kidney. It has stayed localized to the kidney so both will be removed on November 14th in Red Deer. We ask for your prayers and we trust in God's provision and His guidance of the urologists as we are on this journey of surgery and recovery. May we all praise God from whom all blessings flow. Rod and Barb Venhuis and family

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, Sunday, November 3, 2019

"Pray for us..." is the cry of persecuted Christians around the world. Today across the earth, more than 245 million of them are suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. Each year, fellow believers in over 130 countries stand in prayer with our persecuted brothers and sisters through the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church (IDOP). Please join with us in the prayerful remembrance of those experiencing persecution for declaring Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord.

Food for Thought:

Sometimes people will surprise youby saying something that you "didn't see coming". Most of us are familiar with the theologian and author, R.C. Sproul. He made a statement that struck me forcefully. I hope this may never be said of our congregation. This was his statement: "The biggest problem in the church today is that we don't know who God is."
