OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema, Bill Wildeboer and Rena DeRuiter. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world.

Prayer: That same Jesus who was born in meekness and frailty, prayed later while being nailed to a cross: "Father, Forgive..." What do we pray for when we think of others? Please, do remember your brothers and sisters who do not necessarily have happy holidays to look forward to.

Thank you for your prayers, visits, meals, cards, and words of concern and encouragement. We ask for your continued prayers for patience as Rod heals and recovers. Rod and Barb Venhuis

Janneke Roolker’s sister in law Angela, (Grace Roolker’s aunt) is in major need of a kidney transplant. Her last known kidney function was at 5. She needs dialysis but she may not be able to receive it because of anti-rejection medications for a previous double lung transplant. Her stomach is also not working properly as she has a tear and is unable to keep things down. These issues are due to her Cystic Fibrosis and Diabetes. Angela is 43 years of age and covets your prayers.

Men

Are you lonely, afraid to share the things you wrestle with in the deep of the night? Do you wish there was another guy, or guys, you could trust to share some of this stuff with in a safe place. Where you aren’t afraid of being shamed or looked down on, but who would understand and care about you? Pastor Jake is thinking about hosting a get together, a couple of times a month, where guys can gather, and begin building guy relationships of trust and safety. A place where we can share more openly of who we are, to be encouraged to build each other up, while being held accountable in a safe and trusting environment. We will look to the men of the Bible and their struggles, study how God worked in and through them to build them up as men, husbands, fathers, and friends. The hope is to begin this in January, so if you are interested, text, email, or talk to Pastor Jake. His info is in the bulletin and on the church website.

THE PERSECUTED CHURCH

Burkina Faso:

Fourteen church members were shot to death on December 1st. The attack happened in a small town. The church had gathered together for worship when gunmen entered, ordering all the men and boys out of the building. They were forced to the ground and were killed. The region in the eastern part of the country has seen a recent rise of Islamic militancy, and this incident is reminiscent of other similar attacks in recent months. There is support of the military to track down those responsible. Please pray for the loved ones of all those who were slain during this attack and for the surviving members of this traumatized congregation, asking for the ministry of the Holy Spirit to be evident to them in ways that far surpasses their understanding.
