Family Corner

During these days isolation, what are you and your family doing to keep busy? There are many different things one can do to keep entertained. Bethel Library will be open during office hours. If your family is looking for something to read, you’re more than welcome to come and pick out a few books for yourself and your children. There is lots of good reading to choose form.

Have you checked out RightNow Media, Focus on the Family, or CRC the Network and Faith Formation Ministries? From Focus on the Family we have Walking through Holy Week.

Located on these sites are many different opportunities to learn and to have fun. The following are some ideas for you to check out.

Starting this week we will be posting a Share Faith Kids Family Devotional. The devotionals includes a Bible verse to read, a 3-5 minute video of the Bible story, Q & A section, closing prayer plus activity and coloring pages. Something for young ones and the young at heart. Take a moment, click the image link and enjoy!

Computer Caper:

Check out our children’s programs at www.kidscorner.net. In this week’s episode “Computer Caper,” the school computers have been stolen, and Liz is on the case … but unfortunately so is Skink. Groundwork: I Believe In God, the Holy Spirit

As the third member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit actively empowers believers and the Church. Join Groundwork as we examine Matthew 28:19, John 14:16-17, Acts 2:1-4, and 1 Thessalonians 1:4-6 to help us better understand the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Listen now at GroundworkOnline.com and subscribe to Groundwork's weekly emails for future episodes.

At-home Faith Formation Tip:

God’s big family is made up of people from every country on earth! Print off a world map and put it on your refrigerator or kitchen table. Each day, or once a week, choose a country (or if there are kids in your household, take turns). Learn about that country and pray for the needs of its people. In this video from the Promised Land series, see Mount Carmel, where Elijah summoned the Baal prophets for a showdown. God answered with fire from heaven, and the people repented of their idolatry.

In Volume 6, Buck Denver and friends take you through Kings and Chronicles. Includes TWO 25-minute episodes: Episode 1: "The Big Split" Israel is split in two, and the prophet Elijah faces off with 450 prophets of Baal to prove that Israel's God is the true God! Episode 2: "The End of Israel" A bunch of unfaithful kings lead to the end of Israel and Judah, but Isaiah has an amazing message in Israel's darkest hour.

Elijah showed up in Israel because the nation had lost sight of its first love. God sent His prophet to combat the idolatry that had taken worship away from its only rightful recipient. It may have different names and outlets today, but the same idolatry still plagues out world. Dr. Tony Evans teaches through the life of the prophet Elijah to encourage us towards faith, integrity, conviction, restoration, and commitment to God.
