2020-08-16 Bulletin

As we move to worshipping together again on Sundays, we ask that you remember to do the following to keep everyone safe during the pandemic:

  • If you are not feeling well please stay home and worship with us on the Bethel YouTube channel. We are now live-streaming the Sunday services starting at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday!
  • On Sunday morning as you enter the church you are asked to maintain Physical Distancing (6 feet or 2 meters from each other.)
  • Please use the hand sanitizer and sign in on the sheets provided in the foyer. Wipe the pen with the wipes provided when you are finished.
  • Wear a mask if possible – they are provided. You must wear a mask if you would like to sing during the worship service. This is to protect others around you!
  • Family groups may sit together but we do ask others to maintain physical distancing in the pews.
  • Following the worship service, we will exit the sanctuary from the front with those sitting nearest the front exiting first.
  • Those who need to use the elevator are asked to remain in their seats until everyone else has exited and then proceed to the elevator.
  • Please note: Please bring your printed emailed Order of Worship with you to the service. There will not be copies available.

Worship: singing and music are important parts of worship and in this time of COVID, anxiety, ongoing change, government regulations and more, Pastor Jake felt a need coming back from vacation to make a decision to hold off on singing in our services until the entire worship committee has had an opportunity to reflect on our worship services and singing by seeking out Scriptures words on worship, on our response to government guidelines, to the health and makeup of our congregation, and to the current health situation in our community. We plan on holding our meeting in the next couple of weeks as we return from vacations and look ahead to our fall worship season. We ask for your prayers and for God’s wisdom as we seek to figure out our way forward as a worshiping family looking to honor God in all we do.

Renovation Worship Space: as renovations are scheduled to being soon, we will have a new place to call home for our worship services during that time. Wilson's Funeral Chapel is graciously allowing us to use their chapel until our renovations are done! This means that our worship service time will remain the same: Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. We will have our first worship service at Wilson's on Sunday, August 30th.

Offerings, Tithing & Budget Collections at Bethel: There are several options available to make your gifts, offerings and donations to Bethel Christian Reformed Church. If you are worshipping in person, the collection plate is placed in front of the sanctuary and you may drop your donations off as you exit after the service. For those of you that are enjoying worshipping at home, you may write a cheque to Bethel Christian Reformed Church and mail it, use e-transfer or the Bridge App. "Let each one give as he/she has decided in his heart, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

Donating though e-transfer is now available! You may send your e-transfer to giving@lacombebethelcrc.org. Please leave a note in the message line stating where you would like the funds to go and they will be distributed accordingly. May the Lord bless you in your giving.

The offering for today is for GEMS. The GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) ministry continues to grow and reaches out to girls in over 950 churches and Christians organizations throughout North America and the world. The GEMS ministry relies on your faithful support. Thank you for your continuous prayers!

The offering for next Sunday, August 23th is for Youth Unlimited/Dynamic Youth MinistriesYouth Unlimited helps churches challenge youth to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and transform this world for Him. Youth Unlimited is a non-profit, non- denominational Christian ministry organization that focuses on assisting local congregations in their youth ministry through short-term mission trips and youth conferences. They strongly believe that the local church is the tool God created to use to reveal himself to the world. Youth Unlimited is one of four ministries incorporated in an organization called DynamicYouth Ministries:

    · GEMS Girls’ Club is a ministry for young girls.

    · Calvinist Cadet Corps is the companion ministry for boys.

    · The Esther School is a Christian day school in Nyangwena, Zambia.

    Next Sunday, August 23rd

We continue our summer series focused on the many references to rivers in the Bible. Rivers and water hold deep meanings in many passages and often point us to different aspects of who God is. We will be reflecting on Joshua 3, Crossing the River. Israel is at the end of their 40 years of wandering through the wilderness and are preparing to enter into the Promised Land. This is so much more than simply crossing a river, this is all about a change in their identity, a change in how they will see themselves. From nomads without a home, to a nation of people with a place to call home. A place where they can have dreams and build homes, communities, and a permanent place to worship God. Next week we will be reflecting on our identity in Jesus.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema and Bill Wildeboer. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world, Diana Boot, Margaret Njuguna, Albert & Carolyn Strydhorst and John & Marian VanderMeer.

Betty and Herman Scholing have been blessed with another beautiful granddaughter. Maisy Lee was born early in the morning on August 9th to parents Megan & Paul Den Oudsten. We are so thankful for this wonderful healthy blessing!

On August 12th our family celebrated Alice Scholing, 95th birthday. We are very grateful for Gods faithfulness to her over the years and we pray that God continues to give health and strength in the days and years to come. The Scholings’.
