The offering for today is for Shalom Counseling in Red Deer.

Motivated by Christian love and working collaboratively, Shalom provides to all who seek the services: Quality Christian Counselling for emotional & relational concerns, family life and wellness education for the community and training & encouragement for caregivers.

The offering for next Sunday, October 25th is for Mission Support for Leah Ebens.

    Hello Bethel CRC!

This year I am serving as a highschool missionary with Every Nation Church in Vancouver. My co-worker and I are working to reach marginalized youth by serving our youth group and helping them reach out to their friends that don’t yet know the Lord. Our mission statement is all about making disciples so we hope to do that with the youth that God has given us. We also will be taking our youth to experience social justice by volunteering in the downtown eastside and showing them God’s heart for those in poverty. Thank you for partnering and hope to be with you soon! For more information about what I am doing you can contact me at leah.ebens@everynationvancouver.ca

    From the Deacon’s:

On the Thanksgiving weekend, Bethel contributed 457lbs of food and goods to the Lacombe Food Bank with our Thanksgiving Reverse Offering. It was greatly appreciated by the Food Bank.

    Next Sunday, October 25th

Pastor Jake returns from vacation and we will continue our series on The Gospel by reflecting on Titus 2:1-15, Teach & Encourage. We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper and you are encouraged to prepare yourself and reflect on how you place your faith, hope and love in Jesus.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: Jennie Bajema and Bill Wildeboer. Pray also for those who struggle in silence with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional issues. Continue to pray for our missionaries around the world, Diana Boot, Margaret Njuguna, Albert & Carolyn Strydhorst and John & Marian VanderMeer.

    Prayer Requests:

    · Several Bethel families are walking alongside family members and friends who are struggling with health issues, some in palliative care situations. Please pray that the Lord will be with us and use us to bring strength, hope and peace to each other.

Congratulations to Ralph Bos as he celebrates his birthday on Saturday. We wish you the Lords rich blessings with family and friends on your special day.

Pastor Jake will be back in his study again on Wednesday, October 21st. If you are in need of assistance, please call your elder.

    Weekly Prayer Time:

Karl Barth is quoted as having said, "To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world." Would you agree that there seems to be a certain degree of disorder in our world these days? Or as Psalm 11 puts it: "What can the righteous do when the foundations are being destroyed?" We can pray! "The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne." This week's prayer time will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st at the Pattersons' home. The Pattersons' brand new address is 5612-48 Avenue. Also feel free to call or text with any specific prayer requests. Our phone number is 403-307-0043.

Do you have a desire to grow in your faith, explore who God is and who you are, reflect on what it means to be a follower of Jesus who makes more followers of Jesus? Are you willing to commit yourself to an 11-month journey with a small group to walk this journey? Pastor Jake will be hosting a small group of 3-4 people who will meet monthly, beginning neat the end of September/beginning of October to discuss God, faith, discipleship and more, who will commit to praying for each other, meet together at least once each month to pray for and encourage each other, and who will commit to hosting a similar small group within 2 years. If the Holy Spirit is leading you to walk this journey, speak with Pastor Jake and your elder and ask your elder for a letter of reference.

Are you interested in learning more about mental health?

More and more people are struggling with mental health issues and if you would like to learn more about mental health and how you/we can walk alongside these persons, or perhaps gain some understanding of what you are going through yourself, Pastor Jake would like to invite you to a 4-week course called “Let’s Talk.” Because we don’t have a building to meet in at this time, Pastor Jake will offer the course through Zoom. We will meet over Zoom for 4 Sunday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. October 25th, November 1st, 8th, 15th. Let Pastor Jake know and so he can email you the course notes and Zoom link
